Our character education throughout the year is framed as the “Rocket R’s.” Each quarter students are learning about being Respectful, Responsible, & Resilient. One student from each class was recognized as having demonstrated excellent character at school during the second quarter.

Congratulations to our 2nd Quarter SOAR Award winners:

  • Kindergarten: Rhiannon Davis
  • 1st: Aliza Richardson, Myla Cunningham, & Memphis McCann
  • 2nd: Phoenix Reedy & Walker Bates
  • 3rd: Ruby Briggs & Nolan Compton
  • 4th: Jackson Weaver & Lylla Bennett
  • 5th: Elijah LeForge & Bronson Davis

2nd Quarter report cards will be sent home after winter break on Friday, January 6.

East is holding our fourth annual Read-a-thon to encourage reading and raise support for our student and family events. For two weeks in February, students will participate in reading sessions with their class and be encouraged to do additional reading at home. Information about the program and fundraiser will be sent home ahead of our start date on February 3.

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 23, from 3:00-9:30pm. Sign-up links will be emailed and posted on the East website the first week of February.

Save the date for our 4th & 5th grade music concert on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00pm.

Students in grades 3-5 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness the week of April 11-14. We ask that appointments and absences for students be limited as much as possible this week.

East has received several donations from our community that we want to recognize. A special thank you to Sidney United and Sidney Christian churches, the Longview Bank, and several community members who contributed toward Christmas gifts for our students. We also appreciate Sidney Christian Church’s continued support of our Rocket Pack Program, donations to the Donor’s Choose project that funded supplies for Mrs. Fenoglio, and another anonymous community member who donated toward lunch account balances of our students. We are truly grateful for the support of our classrooms, concerts, and programs from our community!

Reminders

  • Please be sure to send your child with the necessary cold-weather gear for outside recess. When snow is on the ground students need snow boots to walk in the snow and snow pants to climb on snow piles.

In Partnership,

Mr. Carver, Principal
