The Unit 7 Board of Education is seeking a person that resides within Unit 7 District boundaries to fill a vacated seat on the Unit 7 School Board. This person can be from any of the townships within the district boundaries except Tolono. The board of education currently has the maximum number of board members from Tolono Township seated on the board. All interested parties should send letters of interest to Andrew Larson, Unit 7 Superintendent by August 10, 2022. larsona@unity.k12.il.us
UJHS Updates:
Illinois Assessment of Readiness Testing: State testing begins Monday, April 4 for all UJHS students. Please make sure that students are at school, on-time each day during testing week.
Sixth and seventh grades will IAR test on April 4, 5, and 6
Eighth grade will IAR test on April 4, 5, and 6 and participate in the Illinois Science Assessment on April 20, 21 and 22.
Important details and changes during testing week:
• Students who arrive late will not be admitted to testing. They will wait in the office until the testing schedule is completed.
• Students will need fully charged Chromebooks, earbuds or headphones, and an AR book each day.
UJHS Spirit Week scheduled to begin on March 7 has been postponed to the week of March 28. Please look for reminders in the student announcements later in the month.
FFA week kicks off at UJHS tomorrow with the first spirit day of the week: Country vs. Country Club.

Parent-Teacher Conference Night: Unit Seven Schools has made the decision to offer in-person parent-teacher conferences this year. Parent-teacher conference night is October 21, 2021, from 3:00-9:30 pm.
Signup is online at ujhs.com. Click on Parent Resources and then click on Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conference sign-up will close at 2:30 on October 21 to allow teachers time to prepare for meetings.

School Fundraiser: Fannie May candy sales kick off on October 21. Forms and money are also due on November 4. Purchases may also be made online. A flyer will go home today with details. This one-time for the school year fundraiser helps pay for school handbooks and planners, assemblies, student incentives, and field trips. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Picture retake day is on October 21. This is for anyone who was absent on Picture Day in August. It is also for anyone who wants a retake. Students who want a retake must bring their pictures packet with them.

Updates from Principal Fitzgerald
UJHS students are at the halfway point in the first quarter. Please check your student’s academic progress in Information Now. Grades have been updated for this progress reporting period. Parents who need their login and/or password, please call the office at 217-485-6735 for assistance. The secretaries can provide login and password information to you if you need assistance.
Thank you for using the back lot for after school pickup. A reminder that for the safety of our students, drivers should not park along the coned off area in the back of the building at any time during dismissal. This area is designated as “no parking, no waiting” in order to provide better visibility for our students as they exit the building in the afternoons. Please help us by relaying this information to family and friends who may be picking up your student at school, but who are unfamiliar with our process.
